Les W. VanDoern Les W. VanDoern, 80, of Fletcher, Okla. died Feb. 17 at his home after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held Friday in Fletcher United Methodist Church with Adriane Smith of Sterling, Okla., and Rev. Daniel Duncan, pastor, officiating. Another service was held Saturday morning at the Fourth and Bedford Street Church of Christ in Dimmitt. Burial followed in Castro Memorial Gardens under the direction of Robbins Funeral Home. He was born in Tucumcari, N.M., on Aug. 12, 1907. He moved to Hess in 1908, and to Springlake in 1924. He married Jewel Elizabeth Langford Nov. 8, 1928, in Olton. She died in 1944. He married Allie Estelle Wall on June 9, 1948, in Crowell. He moved to Fletcher in 1948. He farmed until 1952 and then moved into Fletcher and operated a cafe from 1954 to 1955. He was a carpenter, retiring in 1968. Survivors include his wife of the home; four daughters, Dorothy Ott of Hereford, Juanita Badger of Colorado Springs, Colo., Betty Mullenix of Fletcher, and Barbara Baughman of Sterling, Okla.; three sons, Jimmie Smith of Earth, Jackie Smith of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Homer Smith of Lawton, Okla.; a sister, Esther VanDoern of Dimmitt; 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
