Bio
Son of Jake & Bertha (Kroeger) Nitz. He received his education at District #34 School in Colfax County. He married Loretta Malena on June 7, 1940 in Denver, Colorado. They lived in Lyons, NE where he owned and operated a gravel company. He moved to Columbus where he owned a Sinclair service station before going to work at Behlen Manufacturing for 16 years and Gambles for 8 years. He retired in 1979. Following his retirement he had a business roto-tilling gardens and drove cars for Phil Spady. Vernon enjoyed gardening, fishing, and watching his grandkids sporting events. He was a member of the Eagle's Club.
