Bio

After receiving a B.A. from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, Hubert earned his Juris Doctor – Cum Laude from Southern Methodist University in 1955. While at SMU, Hubert married Pat Bullington in 1953, was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity and was elected Editor of the Southwestern Law Journal. Having achieved the highest grade on the Texas Bar exam in 1955, Hubert was invited by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Texas to respond to the address of welcome into the profession. Hubert began work for Fulbright and Jaworski in 1955, where he made partner in 1967 and was instrumental in establishing branch banking in the State of Texas. In 1971, Hubert joined Southwest Bancshares, Inc., where he served as president and successfully listed the company on the New York Stock Exchange in 1976. In 1979, he joined Entex as Executive Vice President and General Counsel, leading the company through several acquisitions and retiring from his position of Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary for NorAm Energy Corporation in 1998. Hubert also served as Chairman of the Legal Section for the American Gas Association from 1989 to 1991. A lifelong member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church, Hubert served several terms as the President of the Administrative Board, sang in the choir, and led adult Sunday school classes. In 1999 he was appointed a Lifetime Member of the Administrative Board. An avid sportsman, Hubert spent much of his leisure time hunting, fishing and rooting for the Astros, Rockets, Oilers and Texans. Inspired by his love of horses, Hubert relocated to Industry, Texas, in 1998, and spent his years of retirement breeding and training Quarter Horses. Hubert was a Lifetime Member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo where he served on the Cutting Horse Committee. Hubert was active in the Industry community and received the Director Award in recognition of his exceptional leadership and dedicated service to the Lions Club of Industry West-end. He continued to serve God through his leadership at Industry United Methodist Church where he taught adult Sunday school and sang in the choir.
