Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent October 1981 Dennis L. Lighthill, 27, ....died Friday in an automobile accident northwest of Grand Island. Services are pending with Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. Mr. Lighthill was born Oct. 26, 1953, in Kearney, the son of William and Shirley Mieth Lighthill. He received his education in the Grand Island school system and grew to manhood here. He married Karen Schleicher Sept. 4, 1976, in Grand Island. The couple made their home in Grand Island. He worked fro Getz Trucking and Hardman Lumber Company as a truck driver for a time and in 1977 he began working for the city of Grand Island. Survivors include his widow, Karen; three daughters, Katheryn, Carrie and Cynthia, all at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Lighthill of Grand Island; a brother, Doug at home; three sisters, Mrs. Dick (Vicki) Ewers and Mrs. Glen (Trisha) West, both of Grand Island, and Tracy at home; grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Carl Mieth of Rockville and Mrs. Rachel Lighthill of Litchfield.
