Double stone on a base with Maggie
Wife of Walter Bromley Moon. She was a full-blooded Cherokee Indian, adopted by Ben L.Cagle And Sarah McCarroll Cagle when her family was dispersed to the Indian Territory of Oklahoma. Her father re-named her after his own mother. Her original Indian name is unknown. The dispersion of the Cherokee Nation from Georgia to Oklahoma under President Andrew Jackson was infamously known at "The Trail of Tears" (made into a movie starring her granddaughter Linda Lee Moon as wife of the Indian Tribal Chief, and her husband Emilio DelGado as his son). Her Grave Marker gives death date at 1954, her death certificate gives death date as 1955 in three places, death date, doctor's signature, and body removal to funeral home. I remember her with a long, black, plaited pigtail that reached to her waist. Her grave marker gives date of death as June 20, 1954, but her death certificate reads June 1, 1955.
