Bio

Emilie A. Fasse, 98, of Beatrice died at Beatrice Manor Care Center on Monday, September 4, 2006. She was born on December 31, 1907 at rural Jansen and attended Jansen Rural School. She was married to Arthur Fasse on September 25, 1928 at St. Paul's Evangelical Church (Cub Creek) at rural Jansen and they lived and farmed in Jefferson County until moving into Beatrice in 1950. She worked at Hesteds Store in Beatrice for eight years. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice where she was a member of Dorcas Circle, Golden Age Group, Adult Sunday School, Willing Helpers and was a past member of the church choir and the quilting group. She enjoyed collecting plates, yard work, making quilts for her grandchildren and baptismal napkins for the church. Survivors include two daughters, Lucille Schmidt of Fairbury and Verneal Dodge and husband Levi of Beatrice; eight grandchildren. Marsha Jensen and husband David, Verlyn Dodge and wife Karen and Dennis Dodge and wife Salome' all of Beatrice, Gary Schmidt and wife MiJa of Lincoln, Rodney Dodge and wife Susan of Portland, Oregon, Douglas Dodge of Lincoln, Byron Schmidt and fiancée Donna Merklin of Grand Island and Lyle Schmidt and wife Janet of Lincoln; seven great-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and four step-great-great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Herman and Friederika Hertzel Krause; her husband, Arthur who died on December 20, 2001, son-in-law Lawrence Schmidt who died on March 31, 2006, six brothers and seven sisters. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 11, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice with Pastor David Kramer and Pastor Joann Kramer officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery. A family prayer service will be held 10:15 A.M. in the church chapel. A memorial has been established to the St. John Lutheran Church with Ivan and Jan Stern in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice from 8:00 A.M. Saturday morning until 9:00 P.M. Sunday evening and then at the church one hour preceding the services on Monday.
