Mittie Gulledge, 97, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Wednesday, September 4, 2013. Mittie was born in Bristol, Texas on December 28, 1915 to Lott Melvin and Ora Virginia (Evans) Penrod. She grew up in Bristol and graduated from the Bristol School. In August of 1935 she married A.J. Gulledge and they made their home in Bristol then to Ennis and back to Bristol. She was the co-owner of the Gulledge Grocery Store in Ennis for ten years. Mittie worked for Giberson’s in Dallas during WWII as a defense worker. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Ennis. She loved her home, family and church. She had served as a Sunday School Teacher in different department for over fifty years. She is survived by two sons: Joe M. Gulledge and Jack Gulledge; daughter, Mittie Jane Burns; four grandchildren: six great-grandchildren: one great-great-grandchild and one sister, Mildred Taylor. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, A.J. Gulledge, one grandchild, JoLeena Kelly Jurica, three brothers, John Penrod, Will Penrod and L.M. Penrod along with one sister, Virgie
