Bio
John Melvin Penrod was born December 8, 1911, in Bristol in Ellis county, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lott M. Penrod. He died July 26, 1982 in Athens. The retired Vice President of Reserve Oil and Gas Co. in Dallas, he had resided in Athens for five years, moving to the area from Dallas. He also served as Vice president of James A. Lewis Engineering Inc. for several years, where he was employed from 1951-1967. He was a member of AIMEE, past Chairman of the Board of the First Christian Church of Athens, past President of the Christian Men's Fellowship at the First Christian Church of Athens, a member of the pre-school Board of Directors at the First Christian Church of Athens, a member of Athens Fish and Game Club and a member of the Athens Country Club. He was the owner and operator of the Penrod Ranch. Survivors include his wife, Anna W. Penrod; one son, Jack Penrod; one daughter, Judy Jones; two brothers, William S. Penrod and L.M. Penrod; three sisters, Mittie Gulledge, Vergie Penrod, and Mildred Taylor; and four grandchildren.
