Kenfield of Ericson died suddenly of heart trouble Sunday evening of last week, shortly after retiring. The body reached St. Edward Tuesday and funeral services were held Wednesday. He was for years a resident of the vicinity of St. Edward, and numbers the entire community among his friends. ------------------------------ From a 1902 Nance County, Nebraska, newspaper clipping file, publication date unknown, transcribed by Linda Berney: Dandy Kenfield, well known to many of our citizens, died very suddenly at his home in Wheeler county the first of the week. We were unable to learn the cause of his death. Mr. Kenfield leaves a wife and a large family of children, one of whom is Robt. Kenfield of our city. The funeral was held on Wednesday at St. Edward and several of our citizens attended. The sorrowing family has the sympathy of all in their hour of affliction. -------------------------------------- 1st wife Mary [Stoner] Kenfield died in 1874 -mother of his first three children.
