Former Ordite Succumbs in Traffic Accident Elizabeth Volf, 73, died in a car accident near Wood River Sunday June 5. Mrs. Volf was born January 20, 1904 at Ord, the daughter of John and Francis Ptacnik Vodehnal. She grew up and attended school in Ord. On June 6, 1922 she married Albert Volf in Ord. The couple farmed near Ord until Mr. Volf's death in 1956. Mrs. Volf moved to the Overland Trails Oasis in Wood River in 1968. She was a member of the Wood River First United Methodist Church and ZCBJ Lodge. Survivors include three sons, Robert of Wood River, Albert Jr. of Lemoore, CA and Maylon of Phillips; five brothers, August, Paul, Lloyd and Martin, all of Grand Island, and Otto of Manson, IA; five sisters, Mrs. E. A. (Lorraine) Levitt of York, Mrs. Don (Stacy) Clark of California, Mrs. John (Olga) Kneeland of Seattle, WA, Mrs. Martha Lawell of Denver, CO and Mrs. Valasta White of Vermont; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Also an uncle Wm. Ptacnik of Ord. She was preceded in death by her husband. Funeral services were Wednesday at 10:30 am at Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River.
