Well-Known Farmer Ray Hurlbert Dies Well-known retired farmer Raymond E. Hurlbert, 74 died unexpectedly Aug. 19 at the Valley County Hospital. Funeral services were planned for Aug. 23 at the United Methodist Church in Ord. Burial was to be in Ord City Cemetery. Raymond E. Hurlbert was born Dec. 26, 1915 at Ravina, SD to Edward and Anna Mikkelson Hurlbert. He spent his early years in Ravina, later moving with his family to the Ord area where he received his education, graduating with the class of 1934. He married Olga Lukesh on June 12, 1938, in Ord and farmed in the Ord area until his retirement with the exception of a year and a half spent in Granite Falls, WA. He was a member of the IOOF and Elk's Lodge. Survivors include his wife Olga, three sons an daughters-in-law: Dennis and Carolyn, Ron and Stephanie, and Bruce and Suzann, all of Ord; two brothers, Orie of Ord and Lloyd (Babe) of Whittier, CA; two sisters, Della Schwartz and Myrtle Bregg of Omaha; three grandsons and four granddaughters.
