Porter Funeral Rites Thursday at Ord Chapel Funeral services for Harold Porter, 59, who died July 15, at the Valley County Hospital will be held Thursday (today) at the Hastings-Pearson Chapel. The Rev. Clarence Campbell will officiate at the 2 pm service. Organist Mrs. Shirley Karre will present “How Great Thou Art” as a special selection. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery with member of the VFW as pallbearers. Born Dec. 1, 1909 at Ord, Mr. Porter was the son of Charles W. and Lyda (Summers) Porter. He was employed for several years by the Valley County Road Department and Cass Construction Co., of Burwell. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Ord VFW Post #7029. Survivors are his mother of Ord; three sisters, Beulah Porter of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Glea Romans of Broken Bow and Mrs. Lila Naeve of Ord; one brother Verne Porter of Littleton, Colo., and several nieces and nephews.
