Frank “Frankie” Pesek, 85, of Grand Island died Monday, Jan. 4, 2016. Memorial services will be held at a later date, with interment at National Cemetery west of Ord. Frank was born Feb. 3, 1930, on the family farm east of Comstock to Frank and Barbara (Paider) Pesek. He graduated from Comstock High School in 1947 and farmed with his father. He married Bonnie Evans in 1950 at Arcadia Methodist Church. He served in the United States Marine Corps from March 1952 to March 1954. He was a volunteer fireman and member of the American Legion and lifetime member in Grand Island. In 1966 he began employment at Sperry New Holland, retiring in 1990. He enjoyed 14 years wintering in the Rio Grande Valley in Mission, Texas. He was an avid bowler, cards, shuffleboard and pool player. He was a happy polka dancer at the Eagles and Platt Duetsche. He helped organize the “Rolling Eagles Camping Club” in 1977. In later years he read many western novels and watched western movies on TV. Frank was a faithful husband and loving father and grandfather and dedicated friend and neighbor. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Bonnie; and two daughters, Teresa Pesek of Grand Island and Laurel Aimiehinor and one granddaughter, Millicent, both of St. Paul, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Libby Osentowski.
