[from the St. Ansgar Enterprise, 2 April 1970, Lyle Leader News supplement, page 1, columns 5&6] Charles Hollerud Funeral Held Our Savior's Lutheran Funeral services for Charles A. Hollerud, 57, of Lyle, who died March 24 at Mitchell County Memorial hospital, were held at 2 p. m. March 27 at Our Savior's Lutheran church Lyle with the Rev. Merland Johnson officiating. Interment was in Six Mile Grove cemetery. Charles A. Hollerud was born May 23 1912, in Mitchell County, the son of John and Linnea Hollerud. He attended grade school at Pine Hurst, Union and Gregg schools in the Lyle area. He was baptized and confirmed at the Six Mile Grove Lutheran church at Lyle. June 27, 1938 he was united in marriage to Doris Perkins, at the First Lutheran church, St. Ansgar. To this marriage three sons were born, Richard, Arthur and Roger. Mr. Hollerud lived around the Lyle area all his life. He farmed in the Lyle area for six years. In 1944 they moved to town at which time he became employed at Hormels in Austin where he worked until the time of his death. He and his wife owned and operated the Lyle Recreation for nine years. Mr. Hollerud was active in many organizations. He belonged to the Lions International, Austin Moose Lodge, Farm Bureau, and was secretary-treasurer for the Mower County Conservation Club. His keenest interest was the Knights of Pythias of which he served as Grand Chancellor of Minnesota in 1968. He is survived by his wife, Doris; three sons, Richard of Osage, Arthur and Roger of Lyle; four grandchildren; his mother, Linnea of Lyle; three sisters, Mrs. Leonard (Mildred) Leidall of Lyle, Mrs. Herman (Lillian) Skov of Lyle, Mrs. George (Eva) Hendrickson of Austin; three brothers, Norman and Kenneth of Austin, and Leonard of Lyle. He was preceded in death by his father, John.
