[from the St. Ansgar Enterprise, 27 Oct. 1960, Lyle Leader News supplement, page 3, columns 1&2] John Hollerud Rites Held John Hollerud was born, February 6, 1889, at Skoger, Norway. He was the son of August and Nelsine Hollerud. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith there and also attended school in Skoger. On October 28, 1911 he was married to Linnea Anderson at [illegible], Norway, by Pastor [illegible] Dahl. John came to Lyle in November that same year, and was followed by his wife several months later. He worked for Charles Volstad for six years [illegible] engaging in farming for himself in 1917. He farmed until 1946, then moved to Lyle where he lived until the time of his death. He passed away October 15 at St. Olaf Hospital, Austin. He is survived by his wife, Linnea, four sons, Charles of Lyle, Leonard, Norman and Kenneth of Austin; three daughters, Mrs. Leonard Leidal (Mildred), Mrs. Herman Skov (Lillian) of Lyle, and Mrs. George Henderson (Eva) of Austin. Twenty [illegible] grandchildren and six- [illegible] great-grandchildren. Also two sisters and three brothers in Norway. He was preceded in death by his parents also three brothers and three sisters. Out of town relatives attending the funeral came from Los Angeles, Calif.; Austin, Texas, Freemont, Nebraska, Brownsdale, Rose Creek, Adams and Austin, Minnesota; Northwood and Stacyville, Iowa. [from the Mason City Globe Gazette, 17 Oct. 1960, page 7, column 8] Rites Tuesday for J. Hollerud LYLE, Minn.-- John Hollerud, 71, died Saturday at St. Olaf Hospital, Austin, Minn. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Six-Mile Grove Lutheran Church. The Rev. Stanley Klemsrud will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Lienna, four sons, Charles, Lyle, Leonard, Norman and Kenneth, Austin; three daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Mildred) Leidall, Mrs. Herman (Lillian) Skov, both of Lyle; Mrs. George (Eva) Hendrickson, Austin; 27 grand-children and four great-grand-children.
