Daughter of Charles Amsberry of Knoxville, Marion, Iowa and Almyral Ersula Amsberry of Mason County, West Virginia. Wife of (1) Ellis Ransom Zeller of West Union, Custer County, Nebraska and (2) Harve Skinner. Gladys Carrie Amsberry was born and raised in a sod house in Berwyn, Custer County, Nebraska. She played the piano, ukulele, mandolin and the banjo. She played and sang for her children as they were growing up. Gladys Carrie owned and cooked at a restaurant called the "Bow Inn" in Broken Bow, Custer County, Nebraska. Gladys Carrie worked in a nursing home when she was younger. She later owned and operated an elder care nursing home in Harvard, Clay County, Nebraska, where she cooked, cared for and entertained her elderly guests with her musical talents. When her second husband passed away, she sold the home and relocated to California, and then to Texas.
