Charles Ferdinand (Charlie) Smetak died Sept. 20, 2015, in Burnet, Texas. He was born Aug. 30, 1938, in West, Texas, to Frank and Rosina Smetak. Mr. Smetak graduated from Fort Stockton High School and what is now Sul Ross State University. After high school he served in the occupational army in Korea and then eventually retired as an electrician. He was an active member of the Catholic Church and was always the first to volunteer for service projects in the Burnet area. At the time of his passing, he was serving as secretary in his local branch of Disabled Veterans of America. Mr. Smetak is survived by sons [...] of Taylor, [...] of Jayton, and [...] and wife [...] of Albuquerque, and granddaughter [...] of Odessa. He is also survived by four brothers and four sisters. A gathering of family and friends to remember Mr. Smetak is planned for the near future. He will be laid to rest in the National Cemetery in Kerrville.
