MISSION, TEXAS/ BELLEVILLE - Mr. Howard Chapman Sr., age 68, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2005, at Mission, Texas, where he and his wife, Jean have spent the winter. He was born on Jan. 20, 1937, in Winterset, Iowa, the son of Henry and Ruby (Collins) Chapman. Howard attended DeSoto, Iowa schools and on Aug. 16, 1958, was united in marriage to the former Jean Turner in Oregon, Wis. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Terra Engineers, farmed as a hobby in Belleville-Dayton area and was a proud member of Local No. 139 of Operating Engineers for more than 30 years. Survivors include his loving and beautiful wife of 47 years, Jean (Turner) Chapman; six children, LaVonne (Vern) Chapman of Waunakee, Alan (Mary) Chapman of Belleville, DeWayne (Jean) Chapman of New Glarus, Connie (Rick) Hollis of Belleville, Linda Chapman of Belleville, and Howard Chapman Jr. of Belleville; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and a great-grandson to be born in July; three brothers, Jerry Chapman and his wife, Ann of Paige, Texas, Larry Chapman of Paige, Texas, and Jim Chapman and his wife, Gail of Sebastian, Florida; a brother-in-law, Raymond Leslie Sr. of Oregon, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his father in 1980; his mother in 1996; two sisters, Linda Kay at birth and Janice Leslie in 1996. Memorial services were held on Saturday, May 14, 2005, at the BECKER-BEAL FUNERAL HOME, 212 Evarts St., Belleville, Wisconsin.
