"Raymond J. Pelanowski, 92 years, of Fremont, NE passed away Friday, October 23, 2015 at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont. Raymond was born July 5, 1923 to John and Agnes (Czaplewski) Pelanowski in Loup City, NE. He grew up in Loup City and graduated from Loup City High School in 1940. He farmed for two years after high school and then moved to Omaha where he worked for Armour and Cudahy Packing Companies. Raymond entered the Army January 29, 1943 and served till February 5, 1946 in central Europe and the Asiatic Pacific theaters during World War II. After his discharge from the Army he returned to Omaha. Raymond married Neva Hudson December 28, 1948 in Omaha, NE, she passed away February 8, 2013. The couple lived in Marquette, KS, South Dakota and Nebraska during Raymond’s 23 year employment with Western Contracting Corp as a machinist and mechanic. They moved to Fremont in 1979 after Raymond’s retirement. Raymond was a member of VFW Post 9419 of Nickerson NE. He is survived by his daughter, Rose Wichman of Fremont; 2 grandsons David Wichman of O’Neil, NE and Brian Wichman of Fremont; 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife, Neva; Parents; brother, Edward Pelanowski; 3 sisters, Mary Norman, Nell Carroll, and Florence Janda. Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, NE. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont and Thursday 1 hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont with Military Honors conducted by Fremont Honor Guard of V.F.W. Post #854 and American Legion Post #20." Moser Memorial Chapel, 2170 N.
