Johnnie (aka "Big John") was employed by the Atomic Energy Commission in Richland most of his working life. He loved to hunt game birds and to fish. Vacations at Twin Lakes in Washington were highly anticipated. He enjoyed growing roses and some of the biggest apricots folks had ever seen came off our tree thanks to his "secret" weapon. He was a gentle man and a gentleman who died far too young. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Ardell Foster Upchurch, daughter Karen Lee Upchurch, and son Robert Glenn Upchurch. Preceded in death by his parents Horace Cleveland Upchurch and Mary Caroline Hogan Upchurch, and half-siblings (and cousins!) Hubert Spencer Upchurch and Grace Louree Upchurch Hoover Schuyler.
