Harley Edwin Eschliman, age 97, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2015, in Grand Junction, CO. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. He retired after 30 years as a Drivers License Examiner for the Nebraska State Motor Vehicle Department. He moved to Colorado to enjoy being closer to family, camping with the Good Sam's Club, fishing and golf. He was a lifelong Cornhusker football fan and rooted for the Denver Broncos. Harley was an Army Veteran of World War II, participating in the Utah Beach invasion of Normandy. He was so proud to be included in the October 2010 Western Slope Honor Flight to Washington D.C. Seeing the WWII memorial was a memory he cherished. He greatly enjoyed riding in the "Vettes for Vets" entry in the 4th of July parade. Harley was born in Greeley County, NE on May 9, 1918. He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Amelia "Molly"; son, Dennis (Patricia), of Grand Junction; daughter, Judith Zwickl (Donald), of Avondale, AZ; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Millie Mae; brother, Glen; nephew, Gary; and great-grandson, Micah Montag. A vigil and rosary will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2015, from 5 - 7:00 p.m. at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Memorial Mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on Monday, October 12, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice or the charity of your choice in his name. The family wishes to thank all the caregivers for the excellent care Harley received.
