Son of Herman H. Lighthill and Millie May Mizner Husband of Esther Iona Gerths Married: April 25, 1944 Obituary Burl Cecil Lighthill, 83, of Independence, MO, passed away Monday, December 29, 2003. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2004, at D.W. Newcomer s Sons Floral Hills Chapel. Burial in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association. Burl was born August 5, 1920 in Litchfield, NE. He retired June 29, 1982 as a final inspector after 21 years of service with Hobart Refrigeration. He loved country music, enjoyed walking and exercise. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Esther Lighthill of the home; three sons, Vern Lighthill, Emma, MO, Boyd Lighthill and his wife, Jane, Independence, MO, Jim Lighthill and his wife, Brenda, Kansas City, MO; brother, Darrell Lighthill, Hastings, NE; sister, Goldie Pound, Valentine, NE; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
