evaline had met my gggrandfather some time around 1838 1839 as he was a soldier in the army and helped move the Cherokee Indians to Oklahoma and he went back to Monroe co tn and married evaline and then moved to north Carolina and there the first child was born, name joseph gooden and stayed a few more yrs then moved to Hamilton co tn and raised his family then moved to Alabama , for what reason we don't know and he took with him Robert, and his grandson john Wesley gooden plus Catherine his daughter and her husband Benjamin Hawkins, john wesleys parents . if evaline, ever told john Wesley who his mother was we will never know but the truths Catherine is his mother I have talked to tim gooden about this in 2012 and scott gooden and scott took john under his wing after coming back from Anniston ala.(jonn w that is)and got him a job on the railroad and it was assumed for yrs that he was scotts son, and later alluded that he was josephines son but he was always and will forever be ben Hawkins and Catherine goodens son and was from good stock (check out ben Hawkins linage on this find a grave backcheck and I know john Wesley would be a proud man . my great grand father scott really cared for john Wesley gooden as much of a brother than a nephew. catherine in later yrs in life admitted she had an another son living , census in 1900 Hamilton co will bear this out and the were all living.at that time.
