Freddie L. Eatherly 76, of Paris died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006, at his home. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at First Baptist Church with Dr. James H. Semple and the Rev. Mike Fortenberry officiating. Burial follows in Evergreen Cemetery. Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements. The family receives friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. He was born June 21, 1930, in Lamar County, to Jim and Edna Mae Shannon Eatherly. He graduated from Deport High School and Texarkana Junior College. He married Sarah Skidmore on Nov. 11, 1949, in Paris. He retired from the Department of the Army, and served on active duty two times, retiring as a chief warrant officer. He was active in Breakfast Optimist Club serving as president the first year that Woodall Field was started. He also was a real estate broker and owner of Texas Realty He was active in the real estate field, serving as past president of the Paris Board of Realtors, and was voted realtor of the year in 1995. He served as a deacon of First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Jamie Renee Eatherly; and one sister, Ruth Lovelock. He is survived by his wife, Sarah A. Eatherly; two sons, Carey Eatherly and wife, Barbara, and Brad Eatherly and wife, Stacy, all of Paris; two grandsons, Ryan Eatherly of College Station and Kyle Eatherly of Paris; three brothers, David Eatherly, Richard Eatherly and wife, Virginia, all of Clardy, and James Eatherly and wife, Scottie, of Lady Lake, Fla.; and four sisters, Nelda Price and husband, Ronnie, of Mount Vernon, Linda Stephens and husband, Jerry Bob of Paris, Judy Yandell and husband, Willie of Honey Grove, and Mary Bounds of Paris. Asked to serve as pallbearers are Bobby Deweese, Bobby Myers, Les Stidham, John Wright, Joe Dunham, Jimmy Gullion, Darrell Coats, and Ridley Briggs. C.J. Stubblefield serves as honorary pallbearer along with members of the Senior Adult I Sunday School Department of First Baptist Church.
