Bio

Thanks to contributor #46917206 Robert J. Behrns, 77, of Stromsburg, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at Bryan LGH East in Lincoln. He was born Oct. 3, 1925, at David City to John and Ceclia (Brochtrup) Behrns. He graduated from David City High School in 1943. Following graduation he served in the Army Air Force from 1944 to 1945. On June 16, 1947, he married Vivian Coufal at Shelby. They moved to Fullerton where he worked at the hatchery. They then moved to Stromsburg where he worked as a carpenter and then at the post office where he was appointed post master. He served in that position until he retired. He enjoyed woodworking and golfing. He was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church, National League of Postmasters and the American Legion. Survivors include two brothers, John of David City and William of Wahoo; one sister, Marilyn Terwilliger of Lincoln and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 18, at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Osceola. Father Thomas McGuire will officiate. Burial will be at the Shelby cemetery. Visitation was yesterday. Palmer Funeral Homes in Stromsburg is in charge of arrangements.
