Bio
Emmett Wayne Dowell, 74, of Gatesville. Emmett died Monday, Aug. 17, at his home. He was born Aug. 20, 1940, to Yarbrough "Dick" and Viola (Redden) Dowell in Moody. He graduated from Moody High School. In June 1959, he married Peggy Jane McKinney. They enjoyed 55 years together. They were members of the Live Oak Baptist Church. He retired from the Texas Department of Transportation as an equipment operator. Emmett was some what of a Rock Hound. But most of all loved being with and caring for his family. He was preceded in death by his father Dick in 1986; his only child Clint Wayne Dowell in 1989; his wife Jane, 19 February of this year; as well as his mother this July. He is survived by two brothers, many nieces and nephews and numerous cousins and friends. After cremation, private services will be held at Moody Cemetery. No funeral services will be conducted.
