Viola May Dowell, 94, passed away July 2, 2015. She was born August 31, 1920 to Arthur Franklin and Lola (Canafax) Redden, in Lebanon, Oklahoma. Viola married Yarbrough "Dick" Dowell Sr. on November 14, 1936 at Liberty Hill Baptist Church, Moody, TX She is Preceded in death by Husband, Dick; Son, Thomas; Daughter, Baby Girl; and Grandson, Clint Dowell. Survivors include Sons, Yarbrough Dowell Jr., Emmett Wayne Dowell, & William "Bill" Harvey Dowell; 8 Grandchildren, 21 Great-grandchildren and 10 Great-great-grandchildren Viola was a farmer. She farmed near Moody, TX for 79 years from 1936-2015. She graduated from Bruceville-Eddy High School in 1936. She and Dick raised their four sons on the farm. She also attended Temple Junior College, MCC, and Baylor University. She worked for a short time at the Moody Nursing home as a nurse's aid. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7:00 P.M., Sunday, July 5, at Cole Funeral Home, Moody Chapel, 304 8th St, Moody, TX. The Funeral service will be Monday, July 6, 10:30 A.M., at Liberty Hill Baptist Church, 1155 Liberty Hill Rd, Moody, TX. Memorials may be made to the Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Viola's name. Arrangements under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, McGregor, TX.
