Bio

Murray G. Jones, 95, of Whitehouse, was born on Nov. 21, 1919, in Tyler to John and Mary Jane Jones and passed away in Tyler on Aug. 6, 2015. During his life he had worked for the Smith County Courthouse, Talley Cadillac and retired from LaGloria Oil and Gas after 33 years. He graduated from Tyler High School and Tyler Commercial College and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and Saint John's Masonic Lodge No. 53. Murray enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, gardening and visiting with friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Susie; brother, Herman; and a twin brother Melvin. He is survived by his loving wife, Maurine; daughters, Faye Lewis and husband Keith, of Garland, Sue Ann Pittman and husband Larry, of Irving; stepdaughter, Rita Arneil and husband Allan, of Austin; and stepson, Steve Jones, of Austin; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Brian Lewis, Brandon Lewis, Paul Oldham, Danny Jones, Scott Baker, Alan Jones, Justin Jones, Larry Jones and Allan Arneil. Deacons of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
