Bio
Jacoba Koele, daughter of Henry and Jennie Koele, was born in Hospers, Ia. on January 18, 1891. She lived her youth and attended school in this vicinity. She later moved with her parents to Hull, la. She was united in marriage to William Faas of Middleburg on January 27, 1911 at Hull, Iowa. After their marriage they farmed in the Middleburg vicinity until 1916 when they moved to a farm near Sanborn and farmed there until 1935 when they moved into the town of Sanborn. On August 17, 1971 they entered the Prairie View Retirement Home of Sanborn and lived there until the time of her death at St. Luke's Hospital of Sioux City on April 25 , 1972 at the age of 81 years, 3 months and 7 days. She is survived by her husband, William, of Sanborn; one son, Donald, of Sanborn; one daughter, Geneva (Mrs. Walter Close) of Mitchell, S. D.; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren; one sister, Mary (Mrs. John Gunnink) of Clinton, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers and one sister. Services were conducted at the First Reformed Church of Sanborn on Friday, April 28 , 1972 at 1:30 P. M. Clergyman was the Rev. Gerald Osland. Casketbearers were Donnie Faas, Gerald Koele, Earl Vaas, Lennis Lake, Dewey Koele, and Clarence Koele. Interment was in Roseland Cemetery. Sanborn Pioneer 4 Mary 1972
