Funeral services were held Saturday at 10 a.m. from St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eldora for Glen I. Carson, 84, who died Wednesday afternoon, March 20, 1968, at the Eldora Community Hospital. Rev. John Zwack officiated with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Glen Irving Carson was born September 11, 1883, at Fairmont, Neb., the son of Washington Irving and Catherine Carson. He graduated from high school in Geneva, Neb., and attended the University of Nebraska. May 6, 1907, he married Anna Weis at Geneva. The couple lived in Nebraska until moving to Eldora in July, 1931. Mr. Carson served as manager of the Central Iowa Telephone Co., in Eldora until retiring in 1950. He had 43 years telephone company service. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, charter member and past president of the Pine Lake Wildlife Club, past member of the Eldora Rotary Club and Athletic Club and held a life membership in the Telephone Pioneers of America. Survivors include three children: Mrs. Martin (Dorothy) Schwebke and Robert G. Carson, both of Eldora, and Mrs. Dick (Mary Margaret) Muller of Ackley; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Clyde Propst of Omaha, Neb. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1961, a daughter; Catherine, in 1913; one brother and one sister. The Carson family moved from Fairmont to Geneva when Glen was a small child. W. I. Carson served as county sheriff in early days. The family home was on lots where the Standard Oil Station is now located. Glen was a fine athlete and starred on Geneva high school football teams and the town baseball teams. He was manager of the telephone company at Western several years before moving to Iowa.
