Daughter of Charles & Mary (Luchsinger) Welch. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Shell Creek. Mary attended Colfax County Dist. #8 School and Midland College in Fremont, Nebraska. She and her family, who farmed and owned "Welch's Hall" located northeast of Columbus, had a family band and they enjoyed playing at the "Welch's Hall". Mary was united in marriage to Andrew Mikkelsen on July 3, 1933 in Fremont. They made their home and raised their eight children in the Columbus area. In addition to being a mother and homemaker, Mary enjoyed music, playing the piano, singing and dancing. Mary was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Ladies Aid, Naomi Circle, and volunteered her time in the church nursery. Mary is survived by: Daughter - Joan Mimick of Columbus, NE Son - Don Mikkelsen of Omaha, NE Daughter - Sue Mikkelsen of Schuyler, NE Son - Marshal Mikkelsen of Columbus, NE Daughter - Rita (Bill) Ingold of Columbus, NE Son - Hart (Jeanette) Mikkelsen of Columbus, NE 9 Grandchildren 24 Great Grandchildren Daughter-in-law - Pat Mikkelsen of Auburn, NE Sister-in-law - Margaret Welch of Columbus, NE Mary was preceded in death by: Parents - Charles & Mary Welch Husband - Andrew Mikkelsen Sons - James, Duane and Nelson Mikkelsen 1 Grandson Brothers - William, Chester, Charles and David Welch Sisters - Stella Lusche, Ruby Egger and Lucille Henggeler
