Bio

Dolores Volkmer, 79, of Columbus, Nebraska, dies Sunday, July 19, 2015, at the Cottonwood House, in Columbus. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, July 24, 3:00 P.M. at St. Peters Catholic Church in Bellwood with Father Benjamin Holdren celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in the Catholic Cemetery of Presentation Church and St. Peter Church. Visitation will be on Friday from 2:00 – 3:00 P.M. at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family of the Diabetes Association Dolores was born February 3, 1936, in Dwight, Nebraska, to Frank and Martha (Brabec) Lavicky. She was baptized and confirmed at Dwight Assumption Catholic Church. She attended grade school in Dwight and graduated from Seward High School in 1954. She was active in 4-H, Seward Marching and Pep band. In 1955 Dee was married to Ben Kobza of Brainard. To this union, five children were born, Karen, Les, Sue, Jerry, and Keith. They lived at the Bellwood farm. Dee then married Dale Rosenberry of Shelby in 1981. In 1995, Dee was united in marriage to Clint Volkmer of McCool Junction. Dee worked at several part-time jobs plus owning and operating Dee's Landscape Design in Columbus. Her hobbies included flower gardening, landscaping, crocheting, cards, playing organ music, doing picture puzzles, fishing, oil painting, and bowling. Dee's four yards were in Columbus Garden Tour. Dee is survived by: Daughter: Karen (Terry) Sylvester of Bellwood, NE Son: Les (Margo) Kobza of White Bear Lake, MN Daughter: Sue (Tom) Markuson of Cupertino, CA Son: Jerry (Lisa) Kobza of Columbus, NE Son: Keith (Lauren) Kobza of Long Island, NY 7 Grandchildren: Tonya Hurley, Casey Nickolite, Tracy Macken, Dustin Scow, Chris Markuson, Alyssa Kobza, and Kyle Kobza 8 Great Grandchildren: Kylee, Jaydyn, & Dalton Macken Karissa, Seth, and Austin Nickolite Ciara and Colin Hurley Brother: Frank (Jean) Lavicky of Seward, NE Sister: Donna Richstemier of MN Sister-in-law: Helen Lavicky of Stromsburg, NE Dee was preceded in death by: Parents: Frank & Martha Lavicky Husband: Clint Volkmer Brother: Fred Lavicky Sister: Dorothy (Bob) Meduna
