William E Claxton obitituary...died in Abilene, Taylor County, Texas on Thursday, May 25, 1967 but I don't know what day this obit was in the Abilene Reporter News. William Claxton Dies In Rest Home William Eldridge Claxton, 89, died at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Shady Oaks Lodge. Funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Elliott's Chapel of Memories with burial in Elmwood Memorial Park. Leroy Carver, minister of youth at the Vine Street Church of Christ will officiate. He was born April 11, 1878 in Athens, Ala, and married Myrtle Green in Palmer, Tex.,April 28, 1901. They moved to Abilene from Nugent in 1921 and in 1922 built their home at 1190 Sycamore where his wife still resides. He was a retired farmer and second-hand dealer and a member of the Sixth and Locust Church of Christ. Surviving are his wife; three sons, L.B. of 1834 Santos, Otis A. of 3173 Columbia, and Earl of 1173 Elm; two daughters, Mrs. Nora Lee Cole of 1701 S. 22nd, Mrs. Leona Smith of 1190 Syca- more; one cousin whom they reared, Alen Coleman Jones, 2442 Beech; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren. One son, Jim, died in 1954. Grandsons will serve as pall- bearers. ___ William E's parents from Athens, AL and Myrtle Green's parents from Bethel, TN lived next door to each other in Ellis County, TX ___ William E. Claxton's social security number was 465-36-7397. ___ I have a copy of William E. Claxton's will from Taylor County, Texas. They had his name as William EARL Claxton on his will. His middle name was actually Eldridge. William Earl was his son, but this is Willaim Eldridges will. I also have his death certificate which also has "Eldridge" as his middle name. Some say his middle name was Ethridge. I do not know why. .
