Daughter of Robert Corley Wallace & Arenda Elizabeth Jane Brown. Mary's story (in my mind) must have been one of true love. She married Charles Monroe Carlock, who (according to information posted on rootsweb.com by descendants) was jailed/imprisoned for selling liquor to a minor. He escaped from jail, and then the entire family moved to Texas. I can't imagine how fearful she must have been, having fled with her husband and children to another state. She had to have been looking over her shoulder for years, afraid that he'd be found out. She must have been deeply in love, and only a woman with incredible inner strength could have survived the hardships that their situation would have caused her to endure.
