Joyce Marie Beasley was born in Hamlin, Texas, March 3, 1929 to Bo Bryant Beasley and Ida Mae (Mize) Beasley and died on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at the Anchor-Way Senior Home in Crowley, Texas. The family is very grateful for the loving care she received from the owner, Shelita Woods and staff, and Envoy Hospice. Before her third birthday, the family moved to Midland, Texas. Joyce attended Midland schools, graduating from MHS in 1947. She excelled at sports, and enjoyed playing on the volley ball team. After high school, she worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. Always a hard worker, she served as a role model for her four younger sisters, encouraging us to work and always save part of our salary. Joyce enlisted in the Women's Air Force in 1951. She wound up working in Washington D.C. at the Pentagon. Joyce played on the WAF basketball team and was always happy to recount that the Women's Air Force team (underdogs) beat the elite team of U.S. Army Nurses representing Walter Reed Army Hospital. After serving her country, Joyce returned to Midland and worked for the Civil Service at Webb Air Force Base in Big Spring, commuting from Midland for several years. When she did retire, Joyce and her best friend, Jo Hill, bought and cultivated acreage near Garden City which they turned into a state-of-the-art pecan ranch which they named ''The Back Forty". They grew prize winning pecans and enjoyed the trophies and accolades. Besides working on the pecans, Joyce was a life-long Democrat and worked tirelessly for the Texas Democrats. Also, as a member of The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association she enjoyed many years of fellowship with other retired government employees. In 2012, Joyce moved to Cleburne, TX to be nearer her sisters. Joyce was predeceased by her mother and father, her brother Elvis Bryant Beasley, and sister, Vera Beasley Langley, and her special friend, Jo Hill. She is survived by three sisters: Jean Beasley Fikes of Kingsland, TX, Mary Beasley Schubert of Joshua, TX and Molly Beasley Schneider (Leo) of Tulsa, OK. Also surviving are her brother-in-law, C.J. Langley of Midland, TX and sister-in-law, Bobbie Beasley of Antlers, OK and many nieces and nephews. Published by Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home on May 27, 2015
