Dovie was the daughter of Isham and Frances Gouldin Parker. She was the wife of Samuel Thompson. She was the mother of Sophronie, Framces, Theodosia, Walter and Floyd. Mary Ella was the daughter of Samuel Thompson and his first wife Mary Tuttle.
