Funeral services for Mrs. Jimmie Cureton, 86, of Carthage, Texas will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Allen Tilley officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Family visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the funeral home. Mrs. Cureton died May 10, 2015 in Carthage, Texas. Mrs. Jimmie Lee Peace Cureton was born May 28, 1928 in Ringold, Louisiana. She was the second of nine children born to the marriage of Hollis and Vonnie Lee Wilson Peace. She was raised and schooled in Tenaha and Carthage graduating with the Carthage class of 1946. Jimmie married Ralph Pellham and they raised a daughter before he preceded her in death. Mrs. Cureton worked many years as a cashier at Brookshire Bros. and for Urologists Dr. Obryan, Mitchell and Switzer and the Dallas Federal Savings and Loan. She married Elias Varanos E.V. Cureton and they remained devoted to one another for almost 24 years. They were both members of the First Baptist Church of Carthage and the Victory Sunday School Class. Jimmie is also preceded in death by her parents, brother, Hollis Peace and sisters, Gertrude Sistrunk, and Nell Kalichak daughter, Sheila Schriewer. Mrs. Cureton is survived by her devoted husband, E.V. Cureton of Carthage, son-in-law, Roland Schriewer of Pottsboro, brothers, Jerry Nub Peace and wife Laverne of Carthage, Bill Peace and wife Reba of Carthage, Jackie Peace of Shreveport, sisters, Bobbie Barron of Shreveport, LA, and Sandra Allbritton and husband Mike of San Augustine, brother-in-law, Al Kalichak of Montgomery, AL, grandchildren, Brian Schriewer and wife Tammy of McKinney, Chase Schriewer and wife Jennifer of Bells, great grandchildren, Ava Marie, Everlee, Eli, Autumn and Bailey, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be, Chase Schriewer, Brian Schriewer, Dwain Peace, Sammy Peace, Steve Barron, Jason Peace, and Tracy Peace. The family suggests memorials to the First Baptist Church of Carthage.
