Bio

Mary was the daughter of Franklin Truitt and Margaret Gaut. She was born about 1835 in Kentucky. She was married first on May 6, 1857 in Lawrence Co., Missouri to Joshua Baldwin (c1822-1857). They had no known children. Mary was remarried on Sept. 30, 1858 in Lawrence Co., Missouri to William W. Jones. They had three children; Martha Washington, Henry J. (1860-1864), and Thomas Watson Jones. No burial has been found for Mary or son Henry J., in either Lawrence or Dade Co., Missouri. A possible clue might be found on son Thomas' burial record which gives his place of birth on Jan. 20, 1868 as Cobb Co. "Alabama," which does not exist. Perhaps it was Cobb City/Community in Etowah Co., Alabama, which is not too far south of known areas the Jones family lived in. Or perhaps it was Cobb Co., Georgia, or even Bibb Co., Georgia where family history says their nephew John Hooper Tatum was born in 1869.
