Thanks to contributor #48241710; Betty Ann Becker, 68, a Grand Island homemaker, died Saturday, November 17, 2001 at Tiffany Square Care Center. Services will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, November 20, at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Del Roper and Pastor Julie Bringelson officiating. Visitation will be Monday, November 19, from 3 to 8 pm at Kleine Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 pm. Further visitation will be from 9 am until service time on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or First United Methodist Church. Betty was born March 25, 1933, in rural Howard County to Michael and Helen (Swanek) Graus and graduated from St. Paul High School in 1950. She worked for Fairmont Creamery in Grand Island and later worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant. She married Edward Becker on January 19, 1957 in Grand Island. In 1960, the family moved to Columbus, Nebraska, and then moved back to Grand Island in 1962. Betty was a charter member of First United Methodist Church and served as financial secretary for many years. She spent a great deal of time volunteering for the church, the American Red Cross, Meals-On-Wheels, and St. Francis Medical Center. She enjoyed cooking and enjoyed her garden, which she shared with family and friends. Betty is survived by her husband, Edward of Grand Island, two sons; David (Lucy) of Rochester, Minnesota, and, Donald (Mandy) of Omaha, Nebraska, one daughter; Christine Becker of Shelby, Nebraska, two grand-daughters; Marie and Sarah Becker, two sisters; Isabel (Doug) Nielsen of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and, Dorothy Graus of Grand Island, two brothers; Henry (Clara) Graus of Columbus, Nebraska, and, LaVerne (Joyce) Graus of Grand Island. Preceding her in death were her parents, four brothers; Edward, Frank, Peter, and Benny, and one sister; Kathryn Cochenour.
