JUANEITA RAY COUNCILMAN Juaneita Ray Councilman passed away Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at the age of 88. At the time of her passing, her loving family members surrounded her. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, in City of Sweetwater Cemetery in Sweetwater. Juaneita was born July 5, 1923, to Walter Alonzo Davis and Dixie Mae Davis. She attended school in Childress and Hobbs High School in Rotan, where she graduated. She met Arthur Melvin Councilman in Childress during the summer of 1943 and they were married in Childress on Feb. 1, 1944, where they resided until they moved to Sweetwater for a few years. They moved to Odessa in 1948 with their twin daughters, Kae and Mae, where they lived until they retired and moved to Llano in 1983. Neita was a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Odessa where she was baptized. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, two sisters and her husband, the love of her life who passed away Sept. 3, 1990. She then moved to Melvin in 1993 where she was a member of The Melvin Baptist Church. Survivors include her two daughters, Kae Ball and Mae Journeay, both of Melvin; four grandsons; nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Arrangements were under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home.
