Bio

Fort Bend Herald, April 3, 2015: Leona Ann Pollock Ernest was born on November 27, 1926 in Shiner, Texas. She passed away on April 1, 2015 in Houston. Leona, lovingly known as Mom, Aunt Leona, or Lonie and Grammie, was devoted to her family and loved nothing more than spending time with them. She and her husband, Edward, owned and operated Ernest Garage and Auto Sales for 50 plus years. Throughout their career, together they also took on trailer sales and service as well as the first chain of Ryder trucks in the area. Leona was a strong business woman and drove herself to work every day well into her eighties. She enjoyed having her family over for Sunday dinners and especially liked baking items and keeping up her Czech heritage. She doted over her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were all the apples of her eye. She loved company to come over and would drop everything to visit. Leona will be sorrowfully missed by all who knew her. The family would like to thank everyone who had a hand in helping care for her the past few years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Ernest; son, Robert and wife, Carmella Maderio Ernest; granddaughter, Sheree Ernest Reid; parents, John and Emily Pollock; sisters, Lydia Pollock, Sophie Jurek, Carrie Oberhoff Moody; brothers, Adolph, Victor, Edwin, Robert, and John Pollock. Survivors include sons, Donald Ernest and wife, Diane, of Fairchilds, Richard Ernest and wife, Susan, of Needville; grandchildren, Shawn Warncke and husband, KB, of Fairchilds, Shara Ernest and companion, Chris Kidd, of Houston, Wade Ernest and wife, Marla, of Needville, Wyatt Ernest and wife, Jenny, of Wharton, Victoria McCary and husband, Ben, Justin Ernest and fiancée, Cassidy Hart; great-grandchildren, Margo, Kate, and Walker Warncke, Tyler, Madison, Keylee and Cheston Ernest, Keegan and Ally Ernest, Lane and Hunter McCary; sister-in-laws, Earlene Pollock, Bernice Pollock, Frances Pollock, and Elanor Ernest; longtime special friend, Loretta Zak; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will include Wade Ernest, Wyatt Ernest, Justin Ernest, KB Warncke, Tyler Ernest, and Ben McCary. Honorary pallbearers will include Gary Oberhoff, Ernest Jurek, Marvin Pollock, Bennie Pollock, Calvin Pollock, and Freddie Pollock. A rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m. Burial will take place at West Gethsemane Gardens in Rosenberg. Tributes and words of condolence may be left for the family at www.davisgreenlawnfh.com.
