CENTRAL CITY — Leonard Victor Grudzinski, 79, of Central City died Friday, March 20, 2015, at Hospice House in Omaha. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Central City, with Msgr. Nelson Newman officiating. Interment will be at a later date. Solt Funeral Home of Central City is in charge of the arrangements. Leonard was born Aug. 17, 1935, in Sherman County to Victor Adam and Clara Amelia (Ziola) Grudzinski. He grew up on a farm between Ravenna and Loup City and attended country school through the seventh grade. They moved to Ravenna and Leonard attended Ravenna High School. He received his GED at the age of 57 years and then earned his Associate Degree in Hydraulics and Electrical from Central Community College in Hastings. On Sept. 28, 1963, Leonard was united in marriage to Ruby Jean Sharp in Kearney. Leonard worked construction and could operate any kind of machinery. After their marriage, they lived in Kearney, Elm Creek and Grand Island until coming to Central City in 1972. Leonard worked for Farm and Ranch Line and received the Million Mile Award for being accident free. He worked for Knight Brothers for several years and then retired from Cargill in 2006. For the past several years, Leonard had worked part time at the Central City Waste Site. Leonard was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Central City and the Knights of Columbus. Leonard never met a stranger and had a gift for “gab.” Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ruby, of Central City; four sons, Timothy and Cassandra Grudzinski of Giltner, Adam and Teresa Grudzinski of Gretna, Leonard Victor Grudzinski Jr. and Johnny Grudzinski, both of Idaho; two daughters, Katie and Josh Sharpe of Mead and Connie and Glenn Leckband of Rochester, Minn.; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Leonard was preceded in death by his son, Joel Grudzinski on Dec. 1, 1979; his parents; five brothers, Clem, Al, Fabian, Richard and Jerry Grudzinski; three sisters, Bertha Working, Dorothy Roach and LaVada Roach, and an infant sister, Loretta.
