John Joseph Kadavy had a twin sister, Magdeline (also buried in SMM with their parents, John A and Frances Kadavy). Though all the family was born in Nebraska, the grandparents came from Bohemia (and there are many Kadavy's in the Bohemian Cemetery in Omaha, Nebraska). In 1953,John Joseph was working as a laborer for Swift's meat packing plant in Omaha, Nebraska. Magdalene was working as a wrapper in the Safeway Store. They were 36 years old, and sharing a household with their parents at 4107 S. 28th St. in Omaha, Nebraska. That year, father John A. Kadavy (63) was a laborer at Bradford-Kenney in Omaha. Earlier, in 1920, the family was farming in Richardson Township, Butler County, Nebraska. The 1920 US Census lists: John A.
