YOAKUM: Rudy V. Chilek, Jr., age 90, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015. He was born September 16, 1924 in DeWitt County to the late Rudolph and Edna Wentworth Chilek. He served in the United States Army during WW II. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge with the 502nd Parachute Infantry 101st Airborne Division. He is past commander VFW 6209 in Shiner. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Koerth and owned and operated Chilek Dry Wall Supply Company in Houston. His greatest love in his life was his family. Survivors are 3 daughters, Teresa A. Adams (John) of Kingwood, Dorothy C. Ohnheiser (Larry) of LaGrange and Edna Chumchal (Adolph) of Yoakum; 5 sons, Rudy Lawrence Chilek of Boerne, Douglas E. Chilek of Boerne, Vincent Chilek (Melanie) of Hempstead, Travis V. Chilek (Leslie) of Cypress and Joseph Chilek (Sharon) of Poteet; 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters, Rosie Rothbauer (Marvin) of Moulton, Dorothy Mylius of Austin, Lorene Matula of Ezzell, Edna Mae Bradley (Robert) of Magnolia and Helen Jalufka of Victoria. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce Chilek; sister, Clara Kasparek; brother, Jerry Chilek. Rosary to be recited at Thiele Cooper Funeral Home. Funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Koerth with Rev. Charles Sonnier officiating. Burial at Koerth Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
