COOKEVILLE - A memorial service for Lillian "Lil" Trice Crawford, 87, of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, March 14th at 11 a.m. at Cookeville First United Methodist Church. Rev. Whitney Mitchell will officiate the services. Mrs. Crawford's family will receive friends Friday from 4-6 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and again Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Mrs. Crawford died Monday afternoon, March 9, 2015, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family. She was born April 17, 1927 in Mount Pleasant in Maury County to the late Ollie Ansley and Iva Dell King Trice. Educated in Maury County, Mrs. Crawford moved to Cookeville to attend Tennessee Tech University. There she met her husband, the late William Glenn Crawford, to whom she was married for 53 years until his death. After marriage, she and her husband attended Cookeville First United Methodist Church, where she remained a very active and beloved member of the church until her recent illness. Mrs. Crawford will be fondly remembered as a loving and generous person. She dearly loved her family and was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She developed many friendships as she enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, gardening, flowers, and bird watching. She was the consummate Southern hostess, making her friends and family feel loved and welcomed, and her excellent cooking was enjoyed by many. Mrs. Crawford is survived by her three daughters, Susan Carter and husband Bobby of Cookeville, Linda F. Crawford and fiancé John A. Riley of Tellico Village, and Dale Hensley and husband Ron of Apison; four grandchildren, William (Tracy) Borden, Michelle Symes, Kristie Phillips and Mary Beth (Blake) Herron, all of Cookeville; and four great grandchildren, Landon Symes, Jax Borden, Caden Herron and Leigha Herron. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, David, Dudley, Oakley, Ollie Ansley "O.A." Jr. and Lillard Trice; and her sister, Mary Frances Henson.
