Lyle Raymond Maughan Lyle R. Maughan, 87, died peacefully at his home in Caldwell, Tuesday, April 2, 2002, from natural causes. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2002, at the Caldwell Fifth Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 5409 S. Montana Ave. (between 10th Avenue and Indiana Avenue, south of Ustick Road). Burial will follow in Rosedale Memorial Park, Payette, under the direction of Thomason Funeral Home, Weiser. Lyle was born June 13, 1914, at Driggs, Idaho. He was well known and respected by his community and church as a man of high integrity and moral values with a deep love of God and His Son Jesus Christ. This tender man was the third child and eldest son of John R. and Lera Clark Maughan. Lyle married Ethel Rebecca Randell, Dec. 22, 1939, in the Salt Lake Temple, and they were happily married for 59 years. Lyle and Ethel lived in various places in Idaho, then Montana for several years, and back to Idaho for 35 years, with 30 of those years living in Weiser and five years in Caldwell before Ethel's death, Jan. 22, 1999. Lyle married again to another wonderful lady, Mary Johnson Sargent, June 17, 2000, in the Boise Idaho Temple, after which they continued to live in Caldwell. The couple traveled and were very happy to be with each other. They worked together at the Boise Idaho Temple until Lyle became ill. He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in various church capacities, including high priest secretary, branch president, bishopric counselor, ward clerk and many others. He loved the Scouting program and was active in it for 75 years, during which time he received the "Silver Beaver Award." He is survived by his wife, Mary J. Maughan, Caldwell; three daughters, Elaine M. (Chandler) Trusty, Caldwell, Linda M. (Richard) Baxter, Grantsville, Utah, and Kathleen M. (Gary) Walker, Eagle; sons, Kenneth L. (Colleen) Maughan, Pleasant Grove, Utah, and Brent R. Maughan, Salt Lake City, Utah; 32 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lucille Johnson, Mildred Bloomfield, and Alice Nielsen; four brothers, Ralph, Lowell, Wesley and Clyde Maughan; several foster children, as well as, Mary's four children, Valerie Ann (Michael) Chadwick, Salt Lake City, Utah, Cy E. Johnson, Weiser, Sam L. (Vickie) Johnson, Elizabeth City, N.C., and Bob B. (Debi) Johnson, Weiser; and her 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel; his father, John Raymond Maughan; his mother, Lera Clark Maughan; his brother, Melvin C. Maughan; and his sister Jennie Maughan, who died at birth. Family and friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, April 7, 2002, and prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Caldwell Fifth Ward LDS Chapel, 5409 S. Montana Ave. (between 10th Avenue and Indiana Avenue, south of Ustick Road). Contributions may be made to the LDS Missionary Fund, c/o the Fifth Ward, or to the American Heart Association, 270 S.
