Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent June 1984 Floyd L. Johnston, 66, of ....died early Friday morning in a local hospital. Services are pending at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. (and a follow-up on another day)... ~~~~~~~ Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent July 1984 Graveside rites for Floyd L. Johnston, 66, of ....were Monday at Westlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Elroi Reimnitz officiating. Mr. Johnston was born Nov. 5, 1917, at Kearney to Ollie and Hulda Forstedt Johnston. He received his education in the Grand Island public schools and grew up here. He married Shirley Horn on Nov. 14, 1942, in Grand Island. They had four children. Mr. Johnston was employed in the construction trade all his life. Mr. Johnston married Ethel (Bethel)Dunham in 1965 at Aurora. They had two children and made their home in Grand Island. Mrs. Johnston died in 1970 (1969?). Mr. Johnston was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Darrell (Linda) Johnson and Joni Johnston, both of Grand Isalnd; three sons, Allen of Lincoln and LaVerne and Johnny, both of Grand Island, six grandchildren and a brother, Ernest of Fullerton. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry. [Family member says there was another daughter "Shelia Spitz" .]
