James Richard Filer, Sr. SANTA FE — Mr. James Richard Filer, Sr. passed from this life Sunday, May 11, 2008, at his home. Born November 25, 1945, in Santa Fe, Texas, Mr. Filer had been a lifelong resident of Santa Fe. He had been employed as a pipefitter for 32 years with the Pipefitter’s Local #211, was of the Catholic faith, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #6403 in Alvin, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #3789 and enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, camping and bar-b-quing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Henry and Theresa (Borack) Filer; brothers, Robert and Ted Filer, Jr.; sister, Juanita Quinn. Survivors include his sons James Richard Filer, Jr. and wife, Tiffanee of Anahuac, Chad Williams Filer and wife, Laura of Houston; daughter Grace Filer Hoops of Alvin; grandchildren Ashley Filer, Colbey Hoops, Hillarey Filer, Hailley Filer, Rhett Kahla, Tatum Filer, Katelynn Filer, Cory Filer, Cody Filer; great-granddaughter, Mattilyn Filer; companion, Frances Forgus of Santa Fe; brothers, Joe Filer and wife, Autherene of La Marque, Melvin Filer and wife, Dorthy of Dayton, Al Filer and wife, Cleo of La Marque; sisters, Williemae Maniscalco of Santa Fe, Theresa Lacina of Victoria, Texas. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2008, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Chaplain Chad Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow at Alta Loma Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Chad Filer, Cody Filer, Cory Filer, James “Rick” Filer, Jr., Michael Hogue, Colbey Hoops, William “Bobby” Hoops and Faran Turner.
