Harlen Burbank "Bunk" Hatfield, son of Ulysses Grant Hatfield and Elizabeth Sarah Collins Hatfield was born July 22, 1914 in Decatur County, Iowa and passed from this life Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Southern Hills Specialty Care in Osceola, Iowa at 97 years of age. Bunk attended Decatur County Schools . He served his country during World War II attaining the rank of Corporal in the US Army. He was united in marriage to Fredine Virginia Robins in 1938 at Chariton, Iowa and one son, Richard blessed this union. He was later married to Opal Rebecca "Becky" Goodrich. Bunk worked as a carpenter and a farmer. He enjoyed hunting and trapping. Those relatives who preceded him in death were his parents; first wife; Fredine; second wife, Becky; grandson, Jason Hatfield; brothers, Thomas Wilbur Hatfield, Benjamin Alva Hatfield, William Dewey Hatfield; sisters, Pearl Blondell Schuldt, Edith Dell Boles, Merle Lureta Davis, Jessie Marie Lee, Nealy Norton Murphy, Leta Marie Boles, and Helen Irene Neff. Bunk leaves to cherish his memory; son, Richard Hatfield of Kansas City, MO; grandson, Garrett Hatfield and wife, Kelly of Kansas City, MO; great grandchildren, Grace Hatfield and Connor Hatfield of Kansas City, MO; as well as other relatives and many friends.
