According to his death certificate he was born in Londonderry, Ireland, the son of James and Mary (Lynch) Haney, occupation retired engineer for the Federal government, spouse Mary, and died at his home, 5506 S 2nd street, St. Joseph, Missouri (where he had lived for seven years) on February 23, 1936. John Haney, 82, Came Here in 1928 From Fort Crook, Neb. John Haney, eighty-two years old, a retired government stationary engineer, died Sunday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. L. P. Sullivan, 5506 South Second street. He was a native of Ireland. Mr. Haney was a stationary engineer at Fort Crook, Neb., where he retired in 1928 when he came to St. Joseph. Surviving are another daughter, Mrs. Joseph Schwar, Mound City, Ill., and two sons, James and John Haney, Jr., of Omaha. The body is at Barry-Wylie mortuary and will be taken to Omaha for burial.
